Atlanta, Here We Come!

We left Friday morning in bright sunshine and
expectancy of what The Revival of Vintage Show
would hold for us in Atlanta. We made great time
until we got into the area around the city (of course)
where there was a 7 mile backup from an earlier
engine fire of an 18 wheeler. No one was hurt,
thankfully and we still made it on time to the
Goat's Farm Art Center to begin unloading. Got to
meet Weatherly Copenhaver, the event creator
finally, and she is as nice as her emails sounded!
Here we are as the "piles of items" begin to take
shape as we set up under our tent in the
courtyard area!

The courtyard was a picture of antique bricks and weathered wood from the original textile mill that once inhabited the structure. It was the perfect setting for our vintage re-creations and accessories! Here are a few more pictures of our "vignettes"!

A vintage 9 pane window surrounded by a tackle box  flower container, birdhouses from beadboard, an old Sunday School chair and locker baskets greet visitors as they step into our tent "shop"!

We love vintage hats, jewelry and other accessories! Here are a few items that are ready for our visitors to fall in love with!

As the beautiful sunshine streams around the corner of the old mill, I am checking out everything that we've worked on these past weeks! I think we are ready for the crowds to come through the gates on this gorgeous Saturday in midtown Atlanta!
Stay tuned for more details of our adventure.

The Barter System is Alive and Well!

We had fun at the Estate Sale & Treasures Rummage Sale in Greenville yesterday. Got to meet Mary Ann who is a junker/antiquer and is a part of the Remnants shop in Anderson, SC. We enjoyed talking about our finds, how to paint them best, etc. I had my eye on her awesome 1920's cafe chairs of course! Mary Ann was looking for a shelf unit to display items on in the shop, and I think I had fallen in love with the vintage cafe chairs so we traded! The Barter System is alive and well and we'll be taking them to Revival of Vintage next weekend., Hope Atlanta likes them!

Another Busy Creative Day!

It has been a busy day! I've been "creating" all day as my sweet friend Debbie, of Studio Bee Creations says!
Vintage soda pop hanging bottles are lovely hanging

from the porch posts or chains with fresh flowers in them! And the lamp shade frame picture holders are just

too cute with your modern day pics or precious ones
from the past clipped on for folks to see!
Although they weren't in the picture I also put together a few more framed words out of vintage letter game cards.

And all of it is for The Revival of Vintage show in
Atlanta coming up very soon, April 13th &14th.
We are definantly getting excited as the calendar
says we have 2 weeks and 2 days before we'll be
unloading at The Goats Farm Arts Center in West
Midtown. Debbie and I will be joined by my
daughter Caroline who be helping us set up and man our booths on Saturday and Sunday. We are hoping
you'll be considering taking a drive down I-85 to this awesome show!
With a huge lineup of talented artisans, you're sure to see everything
from industrial art to re-fashioned clothing;
and repurposed home decor to restyled vintage jewelry!
Get together with some of your "girl posse" and
make a day of it! At $5 admission, it's cheap fun!
Well, that is if you can keep from buying anything.
But we guarantee that will be hard to do! So come
on down to ATL and enjoy the day at The
Revival Of Vintage! Check out their website for
more details, www.therevivalofvintage.com!

More Projects Are Ready For Atlanta!

Well, as I shared at the first of the month, we've been busy turning out refurbished furniture for The Revival Of Vintage show we'll be at in Atlanta, soon. The lovely vintage Thomasville dresser that was black is now gray. We'll be finishing it up by distressing and waxing the finish and  adding fresh hardware. I look forward to sending it to a new home soon where it can once again be appreciated for the craftsmanship, Thomasville Furniture is famous for.

Another piece that is definitely a re-purpose job is the 1940's desk that I got from my daughter. She bought it on an online auction and it turned out to be a bit worse condition than she realized. Apparently, the former owner had a large dog that was "bored to distraction"! He had chewed on the trim of the desk and a couple of the legs rather extensively. And the top layer of veneer had been pulled off the top of the piece. After deciding that there was too much work involved in restoring it, I made an executive decision to alter it's purpose. I have to admit, I had seen the idea on one of my favorite websites, Junk Market Style. I joined the community some time ago and enjoy it's "Member Junk" creations. A member recently put some pictures of her work on and I was really taken with the realization that she was looking at a piece of furniture and coming up with another use automatically. The worst condition the better! I was surprised at how many times I don't get "out of the box" with a piece. So, from here on out, I'm going to the edge on some re-creations! Anyhow, back to my story. The desk now painted in a bright turquoise is going to become a bench with storage.
Here is the before picture,
and then the "almost finished" picture!
Then further below, you have our the finished bench ready to take to "The Revival of Vintage" event,
April 13th &14th!
This show will be an awesome day trip for any of you who love vintage and re-purposed decor and accessories!

Six Weeks and Counting Down...!

Well, where did February go, I say, as the calendar flips over! It's March already and we are counting down the days until our first spring show of the season in Atlanta on April 13th &14th. Just today, my BFF, Paulette and I got up at the very crack of dawn to go try to find a non-existent garage sale we'd heard about. Well, apparently the info was just a hoax to get people to use up their precious gasoline! We did not find it, even though there were signs. Perhaps they changed their mind about it and slept in, like I would have enjoyed! Anyhoo, we were told about another sale and after a couple turn-arounds; did I mention I haven't been living in this area very long? Well, we did find that one and I love my old tackle boxes that I found. The seller seemed a bit perplexed that I didn't want the old tackle gear in them. I don't really fish, I said. "Oh", he looked even more dismayed. But, of course I'm thinking, these are going to be the cutest flower boxes ever; ready for The Revival of Vintage show!

I little later I found a really pretty Beaux Arts dresser for a pittance at a local thrift store; that doesn't happen to me very often! It's black right now but I'm toying with what color I want to paint it in. It's a lot of black to cover but we'll see!
Speaking of furniture pieces, we finished a couple more pieces this week which was good; since I need a lot of furniture for Atlanta.

The vintage bike basket and the wooden folding chair are perfect in the light turquoise shade, it definitely looks Springy!

This classic French chest my daughter, Caroline scored for me looks so pretty in the wolf gray shade I painted it in.

We hope you will keep checking back with The Grapevine Marketplace, in the weeks ahead as we continue to turn out items for the upcoming Atlanta show!
Thanks!

Is It Spring Yet....?

We've been busy this past week working on some special order creations for 2 customers and putting out some of our vintage decor at Terri's Treasures in Spartanburg. With "the celebration of love" upon us, we enjoyed creating a sweet little vignette at Terri's shop with our vintage inspired Valentine's decor and gifts. If you're in that area, stop in and visit Terri or Paulette and see all the wonderful painted furniture they have available in the shop!

In other news, I noticed a patch of daffodils blooming near my little fish pond this weekend. Just too early for those I'm thinking but they keep right on blooming. Does this mean Spring might be closer? I'm sure the Northeast is not amused by the fact we have flowers blooming, but of course tonight is supposed to be our coldest night so far. Is this what they call "blackberry winter"? Anyway, here are the daffodils inside my house...I couldn't let them be frozen tonight you know!
We're just ready for warmer days, so we can get busy in the garage. I woke up just this morning with an idea for a repurposed piece that would be a winner for the Revival Of Vintage show coming up in Atlanta during April. This of course got me to making my list for all the new creations I'm wanting to put together for the event! This should be fun! Stayed tuned for more tales of our creative prospects at The Grapevine!
